Dance in Schools
Waltz, hip hop and creative dance workshops for schools across Laois, led by a professional who has spent years teaching in classrooms, halls and gyms all over the county.
A visit shaped around your school.
Erica has taught transition year students across the county and spent years in primary schools on the Artist in Schools scheme, funded by the Laois Arts Office. Every visit is planned with the teacher: one workshop or a full block, one class group or the whole school.
No experience needed from the students, and no equipment needed from the school. A hall or a cleared classroom is enough.
“Dance explores a new way of thinking. It is not just an extra activity for fitness and leisure. It is a tool to build intelligence, self-esteem and skills for life.” Erica Pessanha Borges · Principal
The research agrees: an ESRI and Arts Council study found that children who take part in the arts cope better with school work, feel more positive about school and are happier. If you teach at a primary or secondary school, we can shape a visit around your own plans and ideas.
How a visit comes together.

Style, length and format are shaped around your plans: a taster, a term block, or something for an event.
The workshop happens
Erica comes to you. The students dance, and the teacher gets a class full of energy and smiles.
